July 1, 2008. Happy Canada Day! Ignace, Ontario. 3,100km to date. We were interviewed by the Portage Graphic and the story was published with a picture of us and our bike! Cool! Since Portage La Prairie we cycled through Winnipeg (120km), Prawda (97km), Kenora (108km), Dryden (141km) and now Ignace (107km). We'll be half way tomorrow night at Upsula. Yippee! Used Barb's bug tent in Winnipeg. Mosquitos and black flies are thriving! Rested a day in Prawda because of rain and headwinds. Spent the day in a screened in cook shelter playing games and eating great German cooking on site. Motelling it tonight because the rate is comparable to camping and NO BUGS! Went from flat lands and prairies to rolling hills, Canadian Shield (rock), with beautiful lakes and wild flowers everywhere. Amazing! Kenora was particularly spectacular in the Lake of the Woods area, surrounded by water. The rolling hills are great for cycling and the breezy downhill sections keep us cool in the humidity. All for now from Ray and Lydia, Barb and Marty
