August 4, 2008 Fredericton, NB. 6,100 km so far. We're at a library in Fredericton, passing through on the way to Moncton. We cycled the Petit Temis railway bed from Riviere de Loup to Cabano, QB (77km), then did another 40 km along Lake Temiscouada on that same trail until switching to secondary highways when it started to rain heavily. Went to Edmundston (65km), Perth-Andover (104km), Hawkshaw, just after Nackawic (136km) and we've got another 30km or so to go before reaching the next campground. It's been raining on and off for the last few days, but we've mostly been able to duck out of the rain when necessary...or grin and bear it...motels and hostels helping us cope! The railway bed was beautifully scenic passing through rain forests, and along lakes and rivers. From Edmundston, New Brunswick we travelled along the beautiful River Valley Scenic Route which took us along the lovely Saint John River and through quaint small towns. New Brunswick is beautifully green and lush (thanks in part to the record rainfalls) and the people have been extremely helpful and friendly. We heard from Mario, who cycled via Rumouski and hopes to meet us again in Halifax. Bye for now, Ray and Lydia, Marty and Barb
