August 10, 2008 Debert, Nova Scotia. 6518 km to date. About 100 km to go. We travelled 96 km to McGowan's Corner the day we last updated in Fredericton, 142 km to Moncton, NB, 89 km to Amherst, NS, 87 km to Five Islands, and 58 km to Debert. Other than the Trans-Canada Highway going into Moncton, we've cycled on the secondary (beautifully scenic and less travelled) highways through New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. It's been raining a lot over the last couple of weeks but we manage to somehow avoid the biggest downpours. Ray and I are taking another rest day here with our friend Annie and her parents, Sandra and Tony, who have spoiled us with fantastic Nova Scotia "hodge podge" (fresh cooked veggies from their garden) and fried green tomatos for breakfast, with home made bread and jam... yum! We've toured their property, picked and eaten their blueberries, smam in a local swimming hole, watched Tony tending to his bees, sat around a camp fire, met great neighbours, and generally had a wonderful relaxing time here. Tomorrow we'll meet up with Barb and Marty who are cycling to Halifax today from Truro.
