June 10, 2008. We arrived in Edmonton on my mom's birthday, June 9th, thanks to our friend Mario who encouraged us to cycle past Edson, from Hinton to Edmonton with him over two days. Whew! Great tail winds the first day (175km), and a strong cross wind the next (110km). Since we're a day early, we're resting here for two days. At Hinton, 5 of us (including Mario) avoided the overnight rain and cold by staying in a 4 bedroom mobile home for the same cost as tenting. (They upgraded us from a little cabin to the mobile home for no extra charge because the "non-smoking" cabin reeked of cigarette smoke). This hardly feels like roughing it! Barb and Marty stayed overnight in Edson because they stayed with friends. The weather man says they're battling 20km headwinds today...yikes! Feels good knowing that the beautiful scenic mountains are behind us...no more steep climbs. [Matt, from Australia, you're email address failed when we tried to contact you today]. Ray & Lydia
